This is one awesome Blu-Ray player. It plays everything we've thrown at it so far.. even our home-produced DVD+R/-R videos (which the manual does not indicate it could even play)! It is also great to be able to play my .MP3 music files and .JPG slideshows from SD cards! However, just two little quirks have held me back from giving it 5 stars:

Denon really needs to either put more useful buttons on their remote, and/or make the menus easier to access, and/or make switching to/from SD......

Incredible image. Fast, really HiRes... i also played with a samsung lcd 52" and sincronized each other. Looks better than other BR i used in the past. The only issue is that only play DVD's and CD's... do not accept CD-R.

Very nice and affordable blu ray player. Easy to setup from the quick start documentation. More complete details regarding features, remote control, internet connections, Secure Digital (SD) port, and firmware updates are detailed in an English instruction manual. I purchased this BluRay player this morning at a local retail store. The price was reasonable and it had the Phillips name. At first I thought it may have been a Funai with Phillips branding, but after a little net research I have found it is an authentic Phillips manufactured BluRay player.

If you value your sanity, do NOT buy this player. Google "Sharp blu ray" and "incompatible disc" or "firmware update" and you will see the extent of the problem. This player is a loathsome scar on the face of the blu ray industry. Try a Sony player instead.

It is a pain to use. It you stop in the middle of a movie or somewhere in the TV series, when you come back to it later if the power has been turn off, the disk starts from the very begining. I would not have bought Sharp if I had known that their players where like this. It makes it a pain to use.

I bought this product during the '08 "black friday" shopping season. I feel confident enough to leave useful feedback.



First off, when the blu ray player works, the display and sound are awesome, even with traditional dvds. Sometimes even the traditional dvds can be mistaken for blu ray quality.



However, there were several movies (usually 1 out of every 3 blu ray discs that I attempted to play)that would freeze and become pixelated. This was extremely annoying! And make you......

This is our first experience with a "re-conditioned" electronic and we are very pleased so far. Not knowing what to expect, going only by what I've read, the Sharp Aquos is really an improvement over our previous DVD players. Got this Blu-ray player as part of a special combo at the end of July/beg. of August '09, where if you buy a Samsung HDTV (ln40b630 in my case) you get an 8' HDMI cable and this Sylvania Blu-ray player for free - the price of the TV was very good ($999) to begin with, so we felt like we got a heck of deal on all of these combined.



We've been very pleased with our upscaling DVD player, so a Blu-ray player was not at the top of our list of "cool things we gotta have" - but given that w......



You're probably thinking "Sylvania makes blu-ray players?" They're not known for high quality media players, but this player works great so far. Have it hooked up to a 42" plasma (720p only) and movies are as clear as can be. Played everything in my small blu-ray library so far, from Planet Earth to The Night Before Christmas. The best part of all, it came free with my tv purchase.

This Bluray player is very simple to use, puts out an amazing picture. All I had to do was plug and play. Only problem that I noticed is that it takes long time to load, it can take as long as 30 second, other than that I love it.

I have been pleased with this purchase. It was affordable giving the costs of blu-ray players. The problem is that it would not play some of my blu-ray discs. Long story behind that. It had more to do with the dvds coding for certain areas which me and mostly everyone I know knew nothing about.

I've had this player for about 2 months now and I'm happy with this purchase for the most part. I don't have an AQUOS TV so, I can't take advantage of the "Aquos Pure Mode" feature. Also, to date no firmware update exists for this model. The picture and sound quality is great for 1080p video and up to DTSHD 7.1 audio running through my Yamaha home theater system. I would recommend purchasing this unit for anyone's home entertainment enjoyment!

Great picture, easy setup, but I agree with D. L..M about the AQUOS LINK. In fact, after reading that review I called Sharp to make sure my TV (1 month old) supports AQUOS LINK before ordering this player. They said it supported this feature so I ordered the player.

After getting the player, I couldn't get the AQUOS LINK function to work. I called back tech support, asked the same question - does this TV support AQUOS LINK? Yes they said. OK, tell me how to make it work. I'm ......

i have only had it a short time and have only used it twice but so far i give it a ten. excellent picture quality even when playing non blu-ray discs
